Blakkwuman22 Music is pleased to present THE BLACK GOD EP. It features four new songs from Karamanti plus the already popular, BACK AGAINST THE WALL, which was done with Mikey General. THE BLACK GOD is a diverse project covering four genres: poetry, reggae, dancehall and hip-hop. It features collaborations with Jamaican reggae veteran Mikey General and Ghanian rap artist Obibini. All vocals were written by Karamanti – with the exception of Obibini and Mikey General’s verses which were composed by the respective artists. As fans and supporters of Karamanti have come to expect from her, this EP is jam packed with controversial issues ranging from sexual education for children to religious racism. Not wanting the entire project to sound too contentious, she has also included a motivational track entitled I BELIEVE IN YOU. Several talented beat makers contributed to the EP, namely: Alpheus (Germany), Spugy B and D’Ave Productions (Jamaica) and team Obibini (Ghana). All songs were mixed by Audio Traxx Productions in Old Harbor, St. Catherine, Jamaica, with the exception of BACK AGAINST THE WALL which was mixed by ODB in Accra, Ghana and BLACK REVOLUTION done by Team Obibini, also in Ghana. All the backing vocals were done by Snysh at Mixing Lab Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. Persons may listen and download all songs on THE BLACK GOD EP here: https://karamanti.bandcamp.com Over the weekend, recording artist Karamanti released the official video for her single, “Back Against The Wall,” which was done in collaboration with reggae veteran Mikey General. The video was shot in Seaview Gardens, Kingston, Jamaica by Mackamilli and edited by Maria Jackson Ent. Persons may watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoW2bW72tiM
“Back Against The Wall” is the first single on Karamanti’s upcoming EP, which will be released soon on the Blakkwuman22 Music label. DJ Shaun, one of the host of the Taste of Jamaica Show, which airs on Hill Top Radio, has invited Karamanti to be a guest this Tuesday, February 21st. Having accepted the invite, Karamanti is expected to speak about her upcoming video for the single "Back Against The Wall" as well as the upcoming EP "The Black God." The Hill Top Radio can be streamed online here. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thehilltopradioshow The Jamaica based label, Blakkwuman22 Music, has just released the official video for the dancehall track “Everybody” by recording artist Peppery. The song is one of four on the Just Believe Riddim which was released in 2016. All songs on the riddim can be streamed and downloaded at https://karamanti.bandcamp.com/album/just-believe-riddim. The official video for “Everybody” was shot in the UK – where Peppery is based – and edited in Jamaica by the Maria Jackson Entertainment team. In keeping with the message of the song, the theme of the video is all about being secure in who you are regardless of what others think about you. Persons can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE_9HpB-kYw On Wednesday, January 25th, Karamanti and Mikey General got together in Seaview Gardens in Kingston, Jamaica, to shoot the official video for their single, “Back Against The Wall.” The song, which was released at the end of 2016, has been getting heavy rotation by countless reggae selectors (radio, club and street) from all over the world.
“Back Against The Wall” is the leading single from Karamanti’s EP, which will be released at the end of February. The song can be streamed and downloaded via: https://karamanti.bandcamp.com. The video was directed by Karamanti and shot by Mackamilli from Musical Xtremist. It is now being edited and will be released in February ahead of Karamanti’s upcoming EP. Here is what Mikey General had to say about the video shoot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyIC4miFfeE Trinidad’s new network, GT (Great Things), which can be viewed on the Gayelle platform, has just contracted recording artist Karamanti to act as the company’s Brand Ambassador for Jamaica. Karamanti’s commitment to the organization will include, but are not limited to, ensuring that the GT brand gets maximum visibility on and in some cases, off the island.
GT’s CEO, Ancil Harris, approached Karamanti with the idea a few days ago and she accepted. The two have been friends for a while as Karamanti was the featured artist on The Vault – a TV show produced by one of Ancil’s production company – a couple years ago and has also collaborated with one of his artist (JB) on a soca track. Karamanti has been confirmed for the Kwanzaa Yawd Niceness concert on December 31st at Ellis Estate, Sherwood Forest in Portland, Jamaica. Also on the lineup for Kwanzaa Yawd Niceness is reggae veteran, Mikey General as well as Hezron, Digicel’s Rising Star, T-Rizzy, Tolerance and Jemineye. In addition to live performances, there will also be Poetry Reading, Story Telling, Prizes and Surprises; most importantly, the promoter – Grow Youth Universal – is not charging an entrance fee and of course, all are invited. Dancehall artist Karamanti has joined forces with Reggae’s living legend, Mikey General, to send a powerful message to Africans at home and in the diaspora. The message is being sent in the form of a song entitled back against the wall.
On top of a roots reggae beat, both artists present some very serious concerns about the current state of the global Black community. They touch on a variety of things, including, but not limited to: religion, slavery, identity theft, division in the Black communities and that is just to name a few. The chorus, which is done by Mikey General ask: now that our back is against the wall, are we gonna beg are we gonna bawl? The song can be streamed and downloaded from https://karamanti.bandcamp.com. Back against the wall is the first single from Karamanti’s upcoming EP, THE BLACK GOD, which is scheduled to be out in February, 2017 on her own Blakkwuman22 Music. The rhythm was created by D’Ave Production and the song was mixed and mastered by ODB. All vocals were recorded at Mixing Lab Studios in Kingston, Jamaica by Snysh (who also did the backing vocals).
